Known for gracing the balmy landscapes of the Mediterranean, these ancient plants are particularly tolerant of dry air (and to an extent – soil) meaning they thrive indoors as well as outside when the warmer weather arrives, making it an adaptable houseplant and bringing a touch of sunnier climes into our daily lives.
Sunlight exposure:
Choose a spot in your home that gets at least 6 hours of direct sun a day, such as a southern exposure. Avoid letting the leaves touch window glass, which can intensify the sunlight and burn them.
Water:
Water thoroughly to settle the soil; when you can stick your finger about an inch deep into the pot and the soil feels dry, it's time water again. Olive trees grow slowly, especially in fall and winter, so avoid overwatering.

Oleaceae.
Blooms:
Your olive tree likely will not produce fruit, as it needs a big drop in temperature between day and night and two months of temperatures under 10 degrees C (50 degrees F) to trigger flowering.

Nontoxic.
